Kodu - Intro

                                                           Kodu's code
Cpu's codes

World

1. Did you have any difficulties with your programming? What was the issue? How did you solve it?
Finding a way to lose the game (due to me changing it so the cpu takes aways you points) was difficult for a time. However I realized I could make it so you lose the game when your score reaches below zero.
The main challenge I faced while making this game how to account for the npc fast speeds. I didn't want to fix this so straightforwardly, so I edited Kodu to shoot stunning blips which solved the problem remarkably well.

2. Did the student who played your game have any suggestions for your game that you implemented?
No student played my game.
However I believe some changes I could make are making more scenery and decorations in the map.
Also I could increase the acceleration of both Kodu and the Npc. Furthermore the last change I could make mountain ranges to provide a defence against the npc for a while.

"Video Games: The Movie"

1. What are some of the reasons video games were successful? What makes a game popular?

The main reason video games were and are still successful is because it gives most people somewhere to escape to; immersive world for you to explore if you will.
Although games are everywhere nowadays only a select few games from each genre make it to the top. This is because ( I believe) only games with stunning graphics, relatable character models and smooth character movement designs, music befitting of the mood of the game, as well as many other traits that feed into the gameplay of the game. However the most important feature of a game that will raise it to the top is the ability of all its core characteristics (ex. graphics, music, designs, etc.) being able to work together without feeling unnatural.

 2. What are some of the reasons why the video game industry crashed in the 1980s?

Back in the 80s due to the surprising rise in popularity of video games many company threw out games rapidly that were quantity over quality. It was due to this rapid distribution of bad games that made "gamers" start to distrust the whole game industry. However the real "nail in the coffin" was Atari's ET which was named "the Worst Game of all Time."  This was due to it throwing you into the game without telling you your objective, lack of things to do in the game, and always falling in aggravating holes.

 3. Do you think video games are a form of art? Why or why not?

I believe video games are a form of art because the main objective of art is to use your own abilities to express an idea to entertain or instill something in others or even yourself.
Like theatre, games are a type of interactive storytelling this means like other forms of art (like music, dance, and theatre) video games uses the developer's (songwriter's, chorographer's, etc.) abilities to express and instill their feelings and creativeness in their game. While the player's (singer's, dancer's, etc.) uses his/her abilities and imagination paired with the resources that the developer gives the player to thoroughly immerse and entertain him/herself.
This is why I believe video games are a form of art.

4. What is the next evolution in video games? What are the challenges that need to be solved in the next generation of games?

I personally believe the next generation of games will either involve Virtual Reality (VR) or Augmented Reality (AR). This is because new VR and AR systems (like Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, etc.) are being built better then ever before with things like 2160 x 1200 pixel resolution, and VR screens only going up to 90Hz; its no wonder these devices may potentially become the future of gaming.
However, I also believe without a doubt that the traditional controller/keyboard&mouse style of gaming will also continue to thrive due to the variety of gamers and their individual taste.

Pixel Art

Although I used reference art; I also changed the image slightly as well, so it is not an 100% copy of the original.

"Photoshop Intro"

First, I started my first layer/background with the "Battlefield One" image and transformed it to a more suitable size. I then open the "Kim Jong Un" image in another tab and move it to the battlefield one image. I rescale by transforming the "Kim Jong Un" image and move it to the corner of the battlefield one image. I then used the magic wand to select the certain parts of the Kim jong un image background and deleted them. Soon after I added text to both the Battlefield one and Kim Jong Un images.  Next, I opened the Zumbi Blocks, John Cena, and Donald trump images respectively in 3 different tabs. I rescaled the canvas to fit the Zumbi Blocks image and then using the Laso tool; I took John Cena's and Donald Trump's face from  the rest of their images and moved it to the Zumbi blocks tab/image. I resized by transforming both faces to fit/replace zumbi heads in the Zumbi Block image. I then added text on top of and at the bottom of the Zumbi Blocks image. I then opened the Quickscope meme image in a different tab and feathered the sides of the image by selecting modify in the select tab. I then moved all images from their tabs to the "Quickscope meme" tab/image and transformed all images to fit the canvas. I exported them image for web and there we go a perfect header.

Game Analysis Day

Game Day Data Table

1. Boxhead2 and Zumbi Blocks stood out to me the most, because the animation and frames per second were smooth and slick. Also, although the designs may have been a bit cartoony; I believe that contributed on lessening the gore factor and making the game more survival oriented

2. (like before) Boxhead2 and Zumbi blocks were good games in my opinion because of their easy to learn (and use) controls, less gore and more survival oriented gameplay, The major fun factor of these games was how you could enjoy getting new items/loot (rewards) even when enemies were not too difficult. (however I do like semi-difficult enemies and hard boss fights)

3.The games I didn't like were or the ``bad`` games in my opinion were Attack on Titan, Nitrome must Die, and Slither.io. Although must of them weren`t too bad with overall good graphics, frames per second, navigation, and game interface all contributing to good gameplay.
However they all lacked something important that makes a fun and engaging game; for example Nitrome must Die lacks anything dramatic and a engaging story, although It does have story its pretty boring and doesn't really want to make you want to keep playing the game. Also the main Turn-off of NMD is that it`s not anything new and I've played games like these dozens of times and there nothing new or dynamic about it. Slither.io although it has a good game interface; I believe it to be too easy to get rewards (grow bigger) and too easy to lose, therefore making it infuriating after dying just when you started growing. Attack on Titan is a fun game with ok graphics and Amazing amount of movement options to do. However the game interface is a turn-off due to the amount of controls you need to memorize (also the main un-fun factor is how the frames per second drop immediately after starting the game)

4. My favourite game was Zumbi blocks because even though the graphics were not great, it had easy to use/learn controls, 3D graphics, and a main objective you wanted and were forced to play. Zumbi blocks is a game about a unnamed guy (you) being stuck in a town (location may differ in game) full of zumbies raising out of the ground to attack you. Your job (the objective) is to find resources  (like ammo and guns) while running and eliminating the zumbi threat and surviving as long as you can; Good luck.
Zumbi blocks is a game that although has a unrealistic and cartoony look to it makes you want to play because of its flaw (the cartoony look). This is because this "flaw" contributes to making this game less gory and more survival oriented objective based game.
The main thing keeping playing is the unending waves of enemies that make finding rewards (like ammo) fun and challenging.

All in all, I give this 10 not rotten potatoes/ out of 10 rotten tomatoes, this is because the game, although has its flaws; it makes the best of it by using the flaws to contribute to its gameplay and concept.
